What this is

Sky Blue Time Machine is a Coventry City podcast. Each week, Danny and Sarah work through a season of Sky Blues football — and a second one, twenty-five years away from the first. Sometimes the parallel rhymes. Sometimes it doesn't. The show is the conversation about which.

From August 2026, that's the live Premier League return alongside the relegation season of 2000/01. Until August, it's the comparison year on its own — the 2000/01 season retraced week by week, with the live one still to come.

Whether you've been there for thirty years or you came to the club last week, the show is for you. It explains what it needs to and trusts you with the rest.

The hosts

Danny, co-host of Sky Blue Time Machine

Danny.

Coventry-born, Bedworth-based, has been at Highfield Road and the CBS Arena for forty years. Worked in manufacturing all his adult life — production engineering, shop floors, the kind of work that teaches you to look at a system and see why it's the shape it is. Watches a defensive shape the same way.

Has views about most things. Routes around his own emotions by getting more technical. Is funnier than he thinks he is. Was at Villa Park on the fifth of May 2001 and won't talk about it unless you ask him.

Sarah, co-host of Sky Blue Time Machine

Sarah.

American. East Coast, originally — Boston, mostly. London for the last five years. Journalist by trade, mostly long-form, mostly for American outlets. Came to football late and rebuilt the foundation from data after inheriting it from her dad — David Skye, a Coventry kid who emigrated in 1979 and never stopped following the club from across the Atlantic.

Asks the questions Danny hasn't had to answer in a while. Reads the team sheet before the game. Can name the 1967 promotion-clinching team because her dad told her about it for thirty years. Brings cross-sport comparisons that turn out to be more apt than they first sound.

About the format

Sky Blue Time Machine is hosted by AI presenters voiced through synthetic audio. Danny and Sarah are characters — written from extensive bibles you can read here. They aren't real people; we don't pretend they are. Their voices are AI-synthesised. Their personalities are documented.

The show is written, edited, and produced by humans. Coventry-rooted, Coventry-minded. The production technology is current — the writing isn't. Long-form football podcasts are made the way long-form football podcasts have always been made, which is by people who care about the club enough to do the work. The technology lets us make a kind of show that wasn't possible before. The standards are the same as they've always been.
